Our Greenhouse
Welcome to Costa Farm & Greenhouse! Our greenhouses look and smell like spring. Beautiful annuals and perennials are blooming and growing for your enjoyment. Each year we try new varieties, new colors, and grow unusual plants so you can broaden your garden experience. If you need a big beautiful hanging basket for Mother’s Day or you are planning a graduation open house, we can certainly help you choose the appropriate sun loving or shade loving plant varieties. If you are a novice gardener and have questions, we have knowledgeable staff on hand to help you choose plants that will work in all light and soil conditions for container gardens, perennial gardens or in your landscape.
Some interesting plants we are growing this year include:
- Coleus: We are growing 18 varieties this year. They make an attractive accent or focal point in your landscape. Some varieties include 'Oompah', 'Snazzy', 'Merlot', and 'Tiny Red Toes' to name a few.
- Diascia: A beautiful plant that thrives in cool or hot weather. This is one of our favorites!
- Ivy vines: German, 'Eva', and 'Goldchild' are some of the varieties that we're growing which have fascinating shapes and unusual color. Wonderful in window boxes planted with begonias, fuschias or impatiens.
- Euphorbia 'Diamond Frost' produces a non-stop cloud of airy white blooms. Very heat and drought tolerant. Don’t miss out on this one!!
- Thunbergia: black eyed susan vine has been a favorite of our customers for many years. It produces large, bright happy blooms and climbs up to six feet.
- Accent Plants: 'King Tut', exotic grass, Oxalis (an eye-catching burgundy, shamrock-shape leafed beauty), 'Red Riding Hood' (a dwarf purple fountain grass), and Juncus 'Twisted Arrows' (a corkscrew spiraling texture plant with blue/green foliage). All are one-of-a-kind and must haves!
- Black & Blue Salvia: an eye catching salvia with deep cobalt blue, tubular blooms and nearly black calyxes that flowers all summer into fall. Hummingbirds love them!!
- Gaura: Flower buds appear in long, terminal, wand-like panicles above the foliage from late spring to fall. Flowers open and dance in the wind like butterflies!
- 'Duckalicious': an ornamental duck-foot shaped plant with bright yellow petals. A Proven Winner Selection for full sun.
